Remember playing Monopoly when you were younger? My favorite spots to land on were the Community Chest and Chance spots. You never knew what you were going to get, including big windfalls of cash. This is why my life is like Monopoly:
My husband and I moved from Idaho to Maryland this year. Although we put in a change of address, some of our mail occassionally ends up at his parent’s house where we lived for a short amount of time. Two days ago, I get an envelope from his mom that has a piece of mail that went to their house… Opening it up we read that apparently my husband had a savings account with a bank, which merged with another bank, and because it had been inactive for a time, they were attempting to contact him before the money went to the state as unclaimed. Thinking waaaaaaaay back, my husband remembered arranging for an allotment from his Navy paycheck to go to a savings account because he had been planning on buying a ring for his girlfriend at the time. He didn’t end up with her, never got the ring, and forgot about the account. Every paycheck while he was in the Navy, a little bit would be transfered to the account.
Long story short, the balance was over $7,000!!!!!!! Wow!! You couldn’t rip the grins off our faces (ouch! that sounded kind of gross… sorry) and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Little side note, we had about $6,500 left on our car loan… which is now PAID OFF BABY!!! That’s right!!!
That’s what I like to call an everyday miracle from a kind and loving God.
